Porphyry Umbrella Stand with Gold Leaf Trim
Porphyry is one of the techniques you learn on our paint finishes course. These umbrella stands are hand painted by Kate and finished with a 24ct gold leaf rim. You don’t even have to use it for umbrellas, we have ours next to our drinks tray as a lovely way to dispose of your empty containers!

Imperial Porphyry in its natural form was the stone used by Roman emperors, Byzantine monarchs, and Catholic popes to celebrate their status and affirm their strength. Almost impossibly rare and extremely hard, it also has a beautiful red-purple hue.
